Suzuki DF4-DF6 outboard impeller replacement

All the diagrams are in the link petehb gave in post #2

As said already the pump is on top of the gearcase. Pull that and all will be revealed.

Click on "details" for your year model and then on the diagrams for the various sections

The gearcase separates from the leg a cm or so above the anti-ventilation plate. See my post #12 above

If you have a long shaft model the look at the diag of the drive shaft housing to see how that is all fixed.

Impellers wear with use but also deteriorate with time and don't much like being scrunched up in the housing. But would not expect any trouble after only 6 years ... 16 maybe!

BtW when fitting the pump back together try to fold the impeller blades over so that they trail as it rotates(but its not essential as it'll soon sort itself out) just as you do with an inboard.

Perhaps the bad score is about their service and prices. I called an hour ago, said part is in stock, still no price.

I checked price on line for part: £40 for impeller kit. On brownspoint.com $21.95 (too bad shipping from US costs more).

Another comparison: engine hood £361, from brownspoint.com $215 = £133 at today's exchange rate.

Blooming dishonest!

Last thing i got was a water pump impellor kit for dt40 (£27+coppers) orderd over phone cheaper that via web site anyway the parts are not listed over web site so you have to order by phone

http://store.brownspoint.com/microfiche.asp link for microfich at brown s for all engines

Ensure the bottom of the water supply tube goes into the water pump outlet grommet correctly and does not catch on it.

Vasoline will help it fit in smoothly without catching and do a fit check to ensure the rubber seal is not getting caught on the end of the tube.
