Surveyor osmosis Issue

Don't let anybody convince you that osmosis is not serious. When we ran an osmosis center (as part of the boatyard) we had a poor guy who had chucked most of his life savings into an 80' yacht which he intended to run as a charter business. Coming towards the end of the refit which included £50,000 of new teak deck (not done by us), the boat was written-off due to severe osmosis.
The poor guy lost the lot.

True, it was an exeptional case, the worst we saw, but don't underestimate the issue.

You are doing the right thing by getting it done professionally. Are you getting a 10 year warrenty?

What hull BTW?

Was that osmosis or delamination?

I've seen boats with very bad cases of pox, but never known it 'right off' a boat. After all, it's a condition, but not something that warrants a repair. Sure, the cost of repair may exceed the value of the boat, but how does it stop it being used?
