Surveyor in Antigua?

Hi all

looking for a surveyor in Antigua to look at a boat, and assist in helping me avoid the pitfalls of buying a boat in the Caribbean. Given current travel restrictions, the plan is to get them to have the initial once-over.

Whilest in normal times , surveyors would be quite happy to visit neighbouring islands, I suspect that getting a local guy might be easier, given the travel restrictions in place.

any recommendations or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Its a 45’ sailing boat, about 3 years old.

I have a pal in Antigua - he is not an accredited surveyor as such, but he is a professional yacht captain and boat repairer. I sent him a link to this thread, and he told me that he would be happy to go and have a preliminary look at the boat for you, so that you can then decide if you want to have a full works pre-purchase survey carried out.

Try Richard Watson at English Harbour - he’s as likely to try and sell you a house as well though nowadays as he has diversified!

Sold already, with a backup contract signed too! it was only on the market for a few days! And I thought I was moving quickly lol
