The other day I got a PM from Dan telling me that my prediction was
correct that my entry was the winning entry to the Superyacht or superhouse competition.

I was expecting there to be a 'hold the front page of the forum' moment
while the momentous announcement was made to a stunned but suitably awed forum.

But no, nothing, not a peep.

No Snooks banging on my front door to photograph with a handful of
bikinied 'boat girls' eager to share my moment of triumph in exchange for
their 15 minutes of fame.

But no, nothing, not a peep.

Was an announcement made to the masses at SIBS, while blazered
superyacht salesmen threw their caps into the air? Did the YBW stand break
out the champers to placate the pressing crowds, ever hopeful to catch a
glimpse of the modest winner?

But no, nothing, not a peep.

I've already guessed that the news will not be the leader article across
all of IPC's nautical Magazines, encouraging a new generation to emulate me.

But no, nothing, not a peep.

But as good trouper I will accept my prize of an unsigned copy of Full
Circle by Ellen MacArthur, which has just arrived, with profound modesty and quietly slip away to read her words.

But no, don't say anything, not a peep.

A bit confused over here Major. Did you say your Super-Mega Yacht won the prize? Which one? I heard you had two. Large crews required I'm sure. Congratulations and all that.

Bernie

Ah, the congratulations, well sort of, are flooding in now.

Philiz, from my lofty winners podium I have discovered that having some skill helps to win these big prizes and actually entering the competitions, is even better.

At least my prize has lots of pictures in it, so I don't have to wade through the entire dreary tome to get the gist of it, but if Dan is taking notes, in future a bottle of malt would be a better prize. ;)

I am certain that if the Pontiff hadn't been glad-handing it around the country at the time, this historic event may have achieved wider media coverage, but if it came down to it, a win on the lottery would have been preferable.

Anyway, some of you will have the opportunity to gaze upon the treasured tome next weekend and eventually it will be donated to the lock office library.

We've won 150 quids worth of hard graft, cunningly disguised as boat cleaning products.

Well, that's a result and should keep Biz busy over the winter, as I expect she took the photograph.

Hang on, I'll just shuffle up a bit.

There you go, there's room for all of us up on this winners podium.

The paparazzi will be along any minute. Just you watch.
