I believe that a UK court has defined PWC's as 'toys', and as such, they are not subject to the collision regs, any more than roller skates are subject to traffic laws.
I thought that court case was over turned.

Surely a bicycle is technically a 'toy' (in that it requires no registration, licence or any other legalese of a road vehicle), but you are still supposed to stop at red lights.
Aside from questioning why The News is using a metric which hasn't been taught in schools for 50 years to describe the height to which the victim was thrown.....
Fantastic exaggeration. Sometimes there are a few, mostly spaced apartthere is always a large amount of vessels fishing while drifting through the channel to fight your way through.
OT: I am in agreement, although I notice the local Yacht Club uses "....6ft distancing..."...
Interesting. I'll add "failure to use SI units" to "hog roasts", "dixieland jazz evenings" and "blazers" which currently form the basis of my "anachronisms which disincline me to yacht club membership" list.
Try roller skating down the middle of the highstreet and see how long it takes before you get nicked though.

Seems to be more sympathy on this thread for people roller skating in the middle of the road than jet skiers getting bashed by superyachts ?
I've come to realise we have members with some rather strange passions![]()
Can someone please define a 'Superyacht'?
I have always thought a 'Super Yacht' was one that was about 15 feet longer than mine, cost about 10 x as much and was a lovely design.
it was all OK until the last bit ?![]()
33% of the jet ski I come across are being ridden irresponsibly for example near swimmers or too close to other boats. 33% seem to have no understanding of Collision Avoidance protocols and 33% are ok. Just my personal experiences, oh and the odd 1% use my anchored boat as a marker to practice sharp turns around!I would take issue with the phrase quoted in the article, “There are some jet skiers who give us a bad name but most of us are not like we are portrayed and behave respectfully.” I would say that the vast majority of the ones I see in Poole harbour break some kind of rule or bye law every time they are there.
Let‘s be honest, riding a jet ski is dull and boring unless you’re going at speed, undertaking ‘fun’ manoeuvres, or jumping wakes, etc.. The people that are ‘entertained’ by such activities don’t have the wherewithal to take the 15 minutes, to leave the harbour at 10 knots.
