Beautiful boat. I just saw an ad for a 1997 Sunseeker with 315 hrs on the engines, hope you get to use your boat a little bit more than that.:)

i have delivered a few 64 preds both with IPS and shafts. the dash is a bit of a stretch to reach things but i think the visibility is fine (i'm 5'3"). I have been out in some naughty weather as well and they run fine. As far as IPS verse shafts is concerned i think i would have the shaft.

Hello scej,

how would you describe the difference between IPS and shafts in similar boats and why do you prefer shafts? I have driven IPS boats and shaft boats but that was always in different boats (brands) and therefore different handling characteristics "built in".

Has Jimmy been demoted from builder to bricklayer? Times must be tougher that I thought! ;)

Tee-hee, don't let on but I'm actually jimmy the unpaid blimmin labourer at the moment, I've spent this week cleaning up after someone went on the rampage with an 18 tonne excavator, yikes

Cheers
Jimmy

Nice boat, will have to get No.1 son to buy one as SWMBO says we are keeping the Abs 41 cos she likes it. It took EBY all of two weeks to sell their 41 so your 45 shouldn't hang about at the right price.:)

Hi scej,

I'm interested in hearing your opinion about IPS vs shafts in the same hull. You've driven Pred 64s with both as I understand. What made you prefer shafts?

I've driven shaft and IPS boats but never in the same hull, so it is not so easy so compare.

Nice video, Balearick. That coastline looks familiar. NW Mallorca? Had you been upto Soller?

Good video, lovely part of the coast, we hope to be around that area next week.

The 'Woofer' looks one degree under, has he got a hangover?

It was the Woofter's first trip on the new boat, and the sea being quite bumpy that day I think the Woofter was feeling a bit green.

Lovely video, boat and coastline.
You might consider moving the courtesy flag to stbd, though... ;)

A few thoughts/questions boat geekishly Balearick:

1. what is the rectangular dashboard screen thing for, immediately to left of all the round dials, 2.19 in the video?

2. How have you found the step UP starboard side to get to the swim platform? 1.04 in the vid. Kinda strange, and there isn't one on port side. Does water pool in a big sea? Toe stubber?

3. The "shelf" idea works really well. Big cockpit AND big sunbed without having to do a conversion. Looks good too.

4. Tut tut to sunseeker at 0.16 in the video for squeezing the pulpit tubing flat before welding it to the bow stachion loop! (not criticising your lovely boat; I have found corners cut on my boats too; I'm just observing some things builders do which we wish they wouldn't, in the hope they read these threads)

5. What are you doing for a tender? Is it in a garage or will you have one on the platform?

6. Is the electric bimini mechanism above the patio doors all working fine? I'm just asking becuase I'm contemplating buying one from same supplier so I'm interested in its condition/durability @ 2 years old

Thanks

There were a couple of times there when I thought he's going in the drink. At the start I couldn't help myself breaking into a bit of Duran Duran ;)

MTU engine monitor (actually does a whole load of stuff, lots or readouts of engine stats)

I thought it would bother me but I don't notice it at all in practice. It's raised to give more headroom to the crew cabin. There's a water exit in the corner of it so no water collects there.

Yes especially pleased with that! Gives me exactly what I was after, makes the cockpit a great space for entertaining.

There's a Williams 285 in the garage

Yes Bimini works great, is as new. When the bimini is fully extended and there's a bit of wind there are two poles in the garage which slot into holes on either side of the sunbed shelf to keep it all rigid.
