Yes they certainly dissipate all over the world, mid 90’s certainly Cote D’Azur and Mallorca key for deliveries although a good number also ended up in USA.

I had a Portofino 400 about 10 years ago on outdrives. It was originally supplied with the V8 Mercruiser diesels. Two years before I bought her she was re-engined with the new VM based straight six Mercruiser with Bravo twin prop drives. She had only done about 150 hours when one motor died on me. I phoned Barrus for some help only to find that Mercruiser no longer used the Vm based engine, (which was also used in Range Rover diesels for a time) and had moved to Cummins. So I was left with a motor that no one would support unless I bought a new one, left in stock at £20K+. I lost a season, however we put the boat in the water to use as a floating caravan with a 220L plastic barrel filled with water in the engine bay to try to level her out! I then came across the VM Specialist in Chesterfield. It turns out that the VM base engine in both 4 and 6 cylinder form is used in street sweepers! GThey have modular single heads and are easily rebuildable. They took mine in and rebuilt to what appeared to be a very good standard for about £3K!. I refitted it and she ran faultlessly for another couple of years but she was not a quick boat only making about 28 knots. I sold her to a guy who then spent a fortune refurbishing her and adding a massive bathing platform amounts other things.

Thats all helpful to know thanks, one of the things drawing us to the 400 is the heavy solid build, we do tend to get out in conditions that punish the boat so want something that we have confidence in.
Our Targa has had too many things fall to bits in heavy seas, The helm seat ripping out of its mounts was one that sticks in the mind as not being fun..
I also love the engine bay in the 400, plenty of room all the way around both engines.
Ive not seen a shaft one for sale, I do know they did make them with v drives also.
Hi Tezza, is the one that you are looking at this one?:Sunseeker Portofino 400 for sale UK, Sunseeker boats for sale, Sunseeker used boat sales, Sunseeker Motor Boats For Sale 1998 Sunseeker Portofino 400 - Apollo Duck
(Network Yacht Brokers in Chatham).
In which case that is my old boat, which I had for a few years about ten or more years ago.
I do know that the owner who renamed her spent an absolute fortune on her, including that massive bathing platform!
Would be interested if you end up with her as she was almost perfect inside when we had her and apart from the VM engine issues we loved her.

Jut looked back, it was actually 2009-2010! Amazing how time flies, she looked a bit different then.
I remade all the dash whilst I had her.

Yes thats the one we have been looking at.
Migh have to go on the backburner as the guy purchasing my Targa is getting the jitters as I dont have the VAT paid proof for the boat.
Its a real shame as we really like the 400, especially that one as it has the extended platform which makes all the difference as we moor side on at our boat club.

She looks great, still in awesome condition in the cabin but a little tired in the cockpit, also the canopy has seen better days.
We have our fingers crossed we can still find a buyer for our Targa before the 400 sells.
