Sunken boat project.

Thinking ahead, when the boat is on the hard standing, I'll need to get an engine hoist in to remove the existing engine and mount the new one.

It's a gravel hard standing so I'll either need a Tele handler or I might be able to use my car engine hoist. I'll ask the yard to keep the boat as close to the ground as possible so I can get the height required.

I'll put the ventilation plate about 25-40 mm above the keel line as that's what my current boat works well with.

If I get too much ventilation I'll swap to a 4 blade prop.

A big list will be drawn up in the next week!

I decided that even if the existing engine ran, it will always be in the back of my mind that an electrical gremlin will raise its head.

Probably when I'm 12 miles offshore crossing Lyme bay en route to Torquay in May ..

If the dunked engine is a runner it's value increases significantly over a spares or repairs one.

Which will offset some of the new engine cost.

What engine have you bought ?

I've bought the "old" version which has been in production for years

Just the bare engine as I have a prop and existing gear shift. I may need to change the micro switch, trim button and ignition switch. Much cheaper than buying a new unit.

The hydraulic steering is fine as it's a sealed system.
