Summer\'s here

Well, near as makes no odds. We have a new berth sorted out, the donks are serviced (thanks, Col), and Herbie the Erbie should be sorted soon. We have thermals and foul weather gear (thanks, Milltech), so as long as it's less than F11, we're up for it (thanks for the inspiration, Brendan).

Mercury seems a lifetime away, we've been most places this side apart from the Scillies, so what's the plan for this season, folks?

We'd like to do Normandy and the Scillies, but both need a little planning (and the right weather). Given the new base, we are not really constrained by tides, so who fancies organising the party schedule? When and where?

Re: Summer\'s here

have you been to st malo? Decent target for early in a cruise, fab olde walled town (ok, rebuilt post war but it doesn't show) bit of ditchcrawling available up the river if the weather turns bad and loads of nice sandy beaches nearby. Not this weekend mind cos it's a northerly F6 gusting F283. Yes really! Obviously, I am hitching a ride with some raggies for x-channel...

Re: Summer\'s here

so where's your new mooring ???

we've just got back from a week on mucky farter, went down to falmouth from plymouth, but then the eberspacher packed up, so we were forced out in a force 6 or 7 back to plymouth as the weather forcast was just for it to get worse still.
made some notes when we got back to plymouth as to what happened then, going to post that shortly.

Try using mooring warps rather than the eber exhaust as a jet engine to hold you alongside, then when the eber breaks down you won't be forced to leave in iffy weather /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I feel a thread on "Can I use my eber ducts as vectored thrust units for close-quarters manoeuvering" coming on...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My plan is is to do a circumnavigation of Majorca during Whitsun week for which I expect to receive sponsorship by a well known DIY retailer, a knighthood and lots of money in return for which I will whine a lot on TV about how rotten my life is and maybe do a bit of blubbing providing the money's right. Also planning summer hols during which we hope to get across to Menorca
When we were doing our boating in the Channel, we did the Scillies twice and loved it. You need to pick a settled spell of weather and be prepared to anchor overnight if all the mooring buoys taken. Agree with tcm also. St Malo is a fab destination with option to potter up the Rance to Dinan if weather is lousy

Well I'm up for S Ireland some time in May / June. I may venture south down the country but not far as I have lpg and shut the refuelling station at Milford Haven (very short sighted of them).

But thats it for me - and I don't mind coz I just love N Wales!

Yes, you're right.

Got a couple of days off this week and shot down to Ocean Village. Took the boat for a quick blast down to the power station and back again. Sun shining, it was even quite warm. Oh joy.

Summer means Normandy, Channel Islands, Torquay etc.

Happy days are here again!!
