D'you mean like this, of Oban Bay looking southwards....

Or this, looking northwards a wee while later.....

I think it was on that visit we spent 5 days of our holiday cabin-trapped, leaving it only to tip out the dinghy which was repeatedly fully-flooded.
Surely these images are Photoshopped?

Never seen Oban that bad myself but I remember in the club room on Kerrera (you remember when there was a pool table, old comfy chairs and a great library of old sailing mags along with a small TV), there was a pic on the wall of the marina ferry attempting to make its way to Oban. Looked similarly scary to Zoidbergs pics. ??‍

Ah, summer in Scotland.

Does anyone else remember the club room on Kerrera or old? Only talking 20years ago?

About 1986/7 I sheltered in Oban bay over at the pontoons which were near the lifeboat station with gusts in excess of 60kts and steady wind speed not much lower. A sailing boat was driven ashore entering the north passage. It was one of these triple point summer lows that just looked as if it would suddenly deepen and cause havoc, which it did.

It was. We anchored in the gut at the top of Oronsay and when I had a look round at 5am the water was like a mirror. Perked up a bit later, and we are now at Salen Jetty, which is one of my favourite places. Coll tomorrow, maybe.

A short diversion around the back of Carna via East and West Caol Charna into Loch Teacuis is worth the effort. If you're 'ard enough :)

So where are you now?
On the pontoon at Salen (Loch Sunart). Might go to Coll tomorrow, but looks like a bit of a plug into wind by engine (one does not beat to windward) so may go for the Treshnish Islands or Gometra instead.

You?

Well, with the 4G again being intermittent (another reason not to visit the west coast), I’ve not been able to follow up on my Sandaig Sunday post with the Muck Monday, Treshnish Tuesday or even Today’s Wellied Wednesday in Tinkers Hole.

So Muck, Gallanach bay in the north with Rum behind was… mucky weather in the evening after a nice walk to see Port Mor on the south of the island.

Normal summer weather, beer…

Early start to go to Lunga in the Treshnish Islands. Did the puffin thing, a real privilege to get so close to them as they were feeding their you with them just ignoring us a couple of feet away.

Despite the sun, and benign conditions, the forecast precluded an over night stay so nipped over to Cragaig Bay on Ulva.

Next morning a short hop through the Sound of Iona to a favourite, Tinkers Hole.

Went for a buzz round the islands and a walk before G&T time to make it ‘wellied Wednesday’.

Now rolling across to the west of Jura in nae wind and a small but annoying quarter swell. Probably no 4G again tonight so catch you all later.
Be good… ?

Look forward to seeing your pic of the top pool on Loch Tarbert - even if you chicken out and take it from the dinghy or the shore. I took my Moody 336 up there several years ago then anchored overnight in the reach below. Forgot to take a pic from the top pool...

Here's that reach below the top pool earlier in the day looking ~north, an hour or two before HW Springs.
