Dorset Coastal Forum officially work with MMO to monitor progress in the Studland MCZ. They formed the Studland Marine Partnership earlier this year which is a consortium of Stakeholders and interested parties.

They are conducting a survey of residents and users views about the use of eco moorings and the overall management strategy for the MCZ - 2 seperate surveys. Its important that Bay vistors take part so DCF can get a better idea of how it is going, and what we perceive the issues to be.

Their report and link to the surveys; "Studland Bay Marine Partnership | Dorset Coast Have Your Say "

If you use Studland its important you take part to ensure our views are heard.

DCF are visiting the Bay during last week of July to talk to Boaters/locals and answer questions.

Looked at, but didn't complete, the form (since I'm not a user).
Interesting questions in parts, although I've seen a lot worse.

Slightly confused by questions 4 and 6 re level of understanding.
To me the question is, 'how well do you understand the subject/how well across the subject are you', rather than what your views on the importance of seagrass beds to the ecosystem, or the magnitude of the damage itself.

In a way this is sensible, since asking for people's opinions about facts are generally less valuable than facts themselves, but I do think it's a bit of a wasted opportunity. If, for example, they can find a relationship between user type and incorrect approximation of the impact, then that's a method by which more outreach could prove useful.

Question 3 has stupid phrasing lumping "traditional mooring" and anchoring together. Surely many of us are going to acknowledge the scouring of the seabed done by traditional moorings yet take issue with any medium term damage attributable to anchoring. I'm not in favour of traditional moorings in studland but I am in favour of anchoring
