Yes starting to blow a gale here too. Don't remember any other year with gales in both June and July, seems very unusual. And yesterday was absolutely perfect!

Seeing as this depression was borne in Spain, I'm blaming the EU myself

That WINDY link just shows a blank green page. Maybe the site's blown away! Quite windy here in Alderney but there's nothing new in that. Our guest house is full of yachties who didn't fancy trying to sleep in Braye tonight. Can't say I blame them.

Bill.

Been down to the boat this morning to make sure all batterned down. Good to see marina staff out checking security of the boats, (Birdham Pool) well done Birdham! Now I'm sitting at home and have just watched a 80ft poplar come down at the end of my garden! Raining big blobs now as well as lots of wind.

We've been in Denia, about 100km north of Alicante, since Easter although I'm ashamed to say we've only had 2 visits to the boat since then one of which was ruined by bad weather anyway
I was thinking about bringing the boat back to the UK next year but today's and the past 2-3 weeks' weather has brought me to my senses

madly windy in Plymouth today - been out doubling lines and sticking fenders back in all day! I do wish some people wouldn't spend a hundred grand on a boat and a tenner on some string to tie it up with!

Was in Canary Wharf for a meeting this afternoon. People walking over the pedestrian bridge on the south side were being blown off their feet! The water in the wharfs, even though almost no fetch to speak off, were being whipped up into decent size waves. Driving home was a nightmare - loads of trains cancelled, and trees down all over London - the traffic reports went on about 5x longer than normal. The Embankment area was green - leaves and branches littering the pavements.

Then arrived home to find fence panels all over the place - they've survived more than a few storms previously, so must have been hit by one heck of a gust.

I'm glad we escaped to Florida on Tuesday after 2 months (and one gale) in England. Had a great time there all the same and the weather was kind most of the time.
