Stop knocking Bavaria .... lets pick on the French!

Exactly. The Danes as well as the French buy locally instead of the cheapest so there will be jobs for their children. People in this country are selling the future to save a few quid.

Pathetic.

All my transport is British. I have a British made boat (albiet from a long gone builder) a British car and even a British bike. However, non of it was chosen for its country of origin, they just happend to suit my needs and budget. But I do take your point, buying local is good for our economy and should be encouraged.

I was told by an old british boat builder that they had to move from leisure craft in the 70's because the government of the day slapped a huge VAT and levy on them and that killed the business. Other countries invested in their lesuire industy and have been reaping the rewards.

Arguably, the 1970s vat thing was a slap in the face for the outgoing prime minister Heath , from the incoming socialists.

It certainly didn't do anyone any favours, after the 73 oil crisis pushed production costs sky high for everything as well..( and 50mph blanket speed limits eh to drive to yer boat)...

Anyway, as I see it the marine market is saturated. Long live quality British niche boatbuilding!
