Still Alive

Any mention of "business commitments" seems to me like not the right thing to being focussing on, especially if a Son can run things for you.

I'd be thinking about recovery, family, boating ... in that order.
The Business would be at number 8, or thereabouts.

All the best :)

I was all for selling until we listed all the nice little extras she has, joystick control, plumbed internet, sat tv, modified air con for better heat, remote controls for everything inc boat itself etc.etc.etc.
when we had finished the whole list, I told Sam I want to buy it, isn't another boat out there like it !!!!! We shall see.

Have you had a reversal yet, if so how does procedure compare with initial 6 hour op ?
I was under for seven plus hours & will have the reversal which I'm told is one hour max, just need to get strong enough to avoid the complications I have had first time round, mainly caused by lack of weight / strength etc.

The first resection, (a metre of small bowel, ulcers and fistulars in a 999 kind of style), I had a stoma and bag for 6 months. The reversal was simple and relatively pain free. I'm not sure how you are feeling now but I found the trauma of the first operation to be massive; like you I'd dropped half my weight and was in no state to have that kind of surgery.

Second resection, this spring, I have become friendly with my consultant and surgeon and really worked on them to avoid a bag at all costs, if possible. When I woke up I was relieved to have no stoma but with hindsight I think I would have been better to let the gut heal a little longer and gone through it again. I developed a big infection two weeks post op and was re admitted and I now have a nasty lump of Crohns around the join which I recon I could have avoided.

The resection is quick, the scar is about three inches across and you are up and out the next day. Around 10 percent will fail and you have a very nervous 24 hours while you wait to pass a stool, (sorry TMI!).

I'm happy to take a call or email if you have questions as there is/was so much to learn about nutrition and especially electrolights, b12 - if you are not getting regular blood tests and support from your stoma nurse and gp - I can give you an idea of what to look out for. Send me a pm and I'll give you my number and email.

All the best and you will find that with the business in good hands, blue sky above and oceans to explore, there's no better chance for a full recovery :)

Glad to hear you are on the mend.
You have received all sorts of advice which I cannot add value to except:
You could always put it on the market and see what offers come in, presumably that might take a month or so and by then you might feel differently. With an offer in your hand and then much further down the rehabilitation route you will be able to make a decision to accept the the offer or not.
Best of luck in whatever you decide to do. (Not owning a boat does not mean you cannot go boating!).

Only just seen this thread, positively +1 on the very best for your health.

Ref. good moment or not, well, I can predict anything but the future... :)
