can anyone help wuth my small problem i have a six hp johnson outboard and both of the shock absorbers on the leg have come apart ,they are rubber blocks stuck to metal mounts . is there any way of re attaching them . i was thinking of trying to use CT1 to re atatch them. has anyone tried this ,or any idea of any other adheasive that will do the job. Thanks. Kieron

Gluing probably a waste of time
I had a similar issue and solved it with an exhaust hanging bracket wombled from Kwik fit and duly modified

Provided the rubber is in good condition use a high strength polyurethane adhesive such as Sikaflex 292i rather than a hybrid sealant such as CT1.

I wrapped separating engine mounts on my car (Daihatsu Skywing, like a Charade) with cable ties and superglued the cracks.Expected the ties to break but they held for years.

I doubt the glue did anything.

Rubber to metal bonds are special and it requires a chemical bond to be achieved between the two components which usually ( always) requires a third agent treatment of the metal akin to etch priming but not the same. The adhesives mentioned will not satisfactorily bond rubber to metal as they produce a physical bond, if there is rubber left on the metal part then they may well be successful in achieving a bond, how long it lasts for is another question.
