One advantage could be that changing the pump impeller could be easier. Mine is level with the water line so I get a bit of a flood when I take the cover off. Pipe clamp helps. Disadvantages could be that you might forget to turn it on and it introduces two extra joins in the intake pipe which ought to be double clipped? Come to think of it my connections aren't double clipped (outdrive to engine) are anyone's? Interesting omission from the BSS, vessel sinking not dangerous then................can open, worms everywhere!

Rich.
