I bought a pair of these a couple of years ago. I'm not that happy with them, to be honest. I feel they suffer from chromatic aberration: objects are outlined in purple. Does anyone have a pair with the same characteristic? Is there something wrong with mine or are they just not very good? My little Leica's don't suffer such.

Many comments on here about binocular suppliers who are recommended by forumites so if I had a pair of Steiners I was unhappy with I would have them checked out and if they are not genuine buy a pair of stabilised binos by Canon or others if budget permits.

The complaint I have with them (at least those with the bearing compass), is the button cell battery recess comes apart (slightly) from the body of the binos, so it s not waterproof any more.
I have heard of a few similar cases Steiner handled brilliantly, for the moment I covered my battery locker with a giant blob of glue.

But do you get objects lined in purple?

I bought mine through Amazon - I'd be surprised if they were fakes

I just can't see you having an issue if they are genuine. I've never heard of Steiner fakes so it's an open question, sorry to alarm you.
