Can anyone recommend an insurance broker or insurance company that might cover a home made steel yacht (45ft - brand new with excellent survey), for extended cruising? Even if only third party.

I’ve insured with Admiral Marine Ltd.

No problems so far. They also handled and advised on a claim from another boater whose boat unfortunately broke free from their mooring in a storm and caused some minor damage to my boat. All sorted now and with no cost or impact to my policy

PM sent to the OP with contact details.

Not sure the hull material will be a problem with mainstream insurers such as Admiral, but the extended cruising requirement.

If it is recently completed with a survey (and maybe to RCD although it does not have to be) then don't see why hull material would be relevant, but maybe the combination of all 3 would put some insurers of. However extended cruising also begs questions about the extent of the owner/skipper and crew experience. A specialist broker such as here winterandcomarine.com/yachtpolicy might be worth looking at (no connection)
