Steaming Green Oak

Anyone know how long I need to steam a 3m x 75mm x 28mm length of green oak in order to make it bendy enough to make a new gunwale for my tender?

At a guess about half an hour.But its no big deal, if when you attempt to fit it it still feels stiff to pop it back in for another while.

Various "rules of thumb" usually related to thickness. Typical 30 mins per 25mm thickness. However, you probably have to experiment. Unless your radius is very severe, the section you have should bend fairly easily. Clamp the bow end with the overhang at the stern and gradually pull in. You may well find it needs very little steaming.
