Hi, i`m trying to rig up a staysail boom, i think i got the gist of it,but some photo`s off some kind person would help, thanks in advance.
chris.

Hi,thanks for the reply,i think its almost there,it works!!! like you say i have attached the boom to the foredeck via a gooseneck fitting off a mirror dingey, the sail is loose footed and the boom is controlled by pullys with a sheet leading to the cockpit .
When sailing i set the staysail as normal via the pully system and forget about it,when i tack i pull the jib around as normal and the staysail follows, magic.Havnt heard it rattling yet, wait for the experts to tell me its all wrong, chris.

I spent many hours on a boat with a solid boom lashed to the foot of the sail. It rattles in light airs, and didn't have a good variance to the shape. With a loose footed sail, and the gooseneck aft of the stay (seems you did it that way) you can vary the curvature of the sail with the sheet - you need to experiment with the fore and aft positioning of the gooseneck so don't epoxy it in place just yet!

Hi went for a sail last eve,,blew up to f7 waves to match, two reefs in main spitfire jib hanked on pulling like a train, set the staysail, cant seem to get it tight close hauled, need to tweak the boom ties? but when on a run its too tight, never mind its fun trying.Chris.
