I've had one baby stay fail in heavy seas without warning and two main stays where strands have broken out in heavy weather and started to unwind.
Loosing the baby stay in heavy seas is a little worrying and it wasn't particularly nice to go on deck and jury rig.
For the unraveling of wires I just kept an eye open and replaced asap. Didn't tell the crew until in port as it would just have worried them.
