I am thinking of making a crane for my outboard made out of stainless steel tube with mechanically fixed connectors ( rather than welded). I can't find anywhere that makes these bigger than 25mm ( I was thinking 28, 32 or 38 mm tube would be better/stiffer) I know about hinged clamps which are available in 30 mm 32mm and 38 mm but can't find any tube end fittings which are larger than 25mm. Can anyone advise me of a supplier?

You can buy larger stainless tubing but generally need machine shop equipment to bend and cut it and TIG to weld it so not usually sold to retail. Delivered on the back of a lorry and forklifted off.

thanks for the responses - some useful info. Difficult to access workshop with bending equipment hence my wish to use mechanically fixed fittings.
Maybe consider hygienic fittings and tube. This is a thin wall tube for which you can purchase a range of fittings including bends etc. which can be bought polished. It is butt welded using TIG but you could prepare all the cuts/joints etc, then get someone to weld them up for you. Each of the welds would then need an acid pickle and a final polish on a buffing wheel.

One of the companies that supply a vast range of SS tube and fittings can be found here:

I used this type of approach for the perimeter frame and supports for my swim platform

Where are you located as forum members may be able to help to locate some one local to you with tube bending equipment like people who fit car exhausts can very often bend steel stainless tube my local car exhaust fitment will make an exhaust tor my sports

boat is in Tunisia. Quite limited when it comes to engineering workshops but will check out car repair places to see if they do pipe bending

Yes I have thought about that but aesthetically they are not right. also pipe dimensions are different. I am going out into the garden where I have a length of 25 mm bent tube and I will experiment with a load slightly greater than the weight of my outboard and see how much deflection there is It would be great just to use 25mm tube but most of the marketed cranes are 38 mm
