I am about to re rig and wondered how I should prevent corrosion occurring between the stainless tangs that sit inside the mast and the aluminium mast. The old ones seem to have some sort of goo on them . Would lanocote do the job?

Chandlers sell Duralac in tubes, and it's 'orrible stuff to use from a tube because it's runny, sticky, bright yellow, and seems to get everywhere and on everything. It also separates over time and can't be stirred in tube format. I prefer it in a tin, and it's also cheaper for more. Aviation places sell Duralac tins. Just don't muddle it up with Duralactin. That's for dogs. :)

Can be cleaned off sucessfully whilst still wet with white spirit and you can stir the inside of a tube using a wooden coffee stirring stick as given away with Starbucks etc.! Just don't do the annoying thing and squeeze the tube from the middle.

It also helps if the threads are wiped clean before the cap is replaced otherwise it sticks so well that the tube gets damaged in trying to remove it.
