I've bought various A4 bolts, nuts, washers, self-tappers etc from Sea Screw. I've also bought boxed assortments from them in the past, but couldn't spot them on a quick browse this morning.

They're very good at stating whether it's A2/304 or A4/316 and have an enormous range.
So showing my ignorance..I take it A2 is rather a no no for sea water, or is that too simple. Will it do or is it advisable to shell out for A4.
I'd definitely go for A4 underwater (I've seen some scarily eaten-away rudder bolts with A2 stamped on the head) but I'm not sure it's necessary on deck and it surely isn't down below. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to enlighten us

I'd advise finding a local supplier, the prices will be much less. I use BML in Shrewsbury but there are bound to be equivalents in your area (where is Nidderdale?) They charge pence for small quantities and sometimes don't bother charging at all for a couple of items. My pal who lives in the Black Country can buy a sack of stainless screws for the price of half a dozen in a chandlers.
