Stainless jubilee clips

You should only get all 316 stainless, i.e. with a stainless worm and solid band, so not perforated ideally. Cheaper ones cheat you with a steel worm. A point of failure. Buy the JCS brand or slightly less good the Jubilee brand. Both British made. Fine for most uses. Don’t save the pennies on this. It will be a case of losing the ship for a ha’penny of tar. I like the Mikalor T bolt clamp in 316. There are others. Expensive, but the best type if you want the most even clamping, on an exhaust hose for example. Better still would be titanium or a higher grade of duplex stainless. They are not readily available. A gap in the market - I’ve had plenty of 316 hose clamps fail.

The key issues with clips is making sure the worm is also stainless, the band is sufficiently thick and the threads in the band are properly formed so that they are easy to do up and undo. For most applications on a boat it really does not matter if the material is 304 or 316. Failure rates because of corrosion are extremely low and corrosion is visually obvious before failure is likely. Most critical hose attachments are over a raised or lipped spigot and are under little pressure (as we find while trying to get the hose on!) so even with slackening of pressure from a loose or broken clip the hose is unlikely to come off even though it make leak
