Just a heads up if anyone needs stainless braided hose, I bought the stuff below from autosiliconehoses.com only last november, I won't slag it off I'll just let you make your own minds up.

It has only been used in a pressure washed engine bay and has only been exposed to tiny amount of river water from burping air from shaft seals, no full salt water.

I think I'll be changing it from another supplier.

If that's fuel hose, i wouldn't use it. Stick to good quality fuel hose, it's all you need. You can also use copper tube with flexible tails.

If 'stainless' has rusted like that since only November, I would suggest that it is seriously sub-standard by any reasonable assessment. I would at least give the supplier the opportunity to put matters right.

A closer look at the supplied hose tells you that the braid is only 304 and that the hose is not approved marine hose, it would, for instance, fail an inland BSS inspection. Marine fuel hose should be ISO7840. The same company supplies the correct hose for less money than the incorrect one ; Rubber Marine Fuel & Oil Hose ISO7840:

The correct hose is important, the shiny stainless is superfluous.

Agree with post 4. External metal braiding is not a good idea as what is inside the brading can't be seen and you can't see the ISO number printed on it. If the hose is secured to prevent abrasion you don't need the brading.
