Whilst scrolling lazily through all the various options on my Raymarine ST70 repeater unit on a wet and cold day I happened across the battery monitor options and thought "ah what do I need to get this to work?"

Despite trawling the WWW and getting loads of advice on fitting battery monitors and various other gauges I have been unable to get anywhere with what i need to get this option working on my sailing boat. I assume the options are only really used when this unit is fitted to a motor cruiser.

I tried asking at the Raymarine stand at the boat show but honestly think the muppet I spoke to thought I was speaking Greek for all he understood. I have asked Raymarine through their website but was wondering if any one here had managed to get this to work and how they did it.

Cheers

Nigel,

It may not be called a repeater but I have 2 ST70 multiple display units on board, one in the cockpit and one at the navigation table. The Navigation one is what I consider to be the repeat of the helm/cockpit station.

It was installed as part of the whole Raymarine electronics package with the boat and displays all the same information as the cockpit station but I have set it up to display different screens to those outside which generally just has all the main sailing information (wind direction/speed, water depth, SOG, Boat Speed). It is on this inside repeat screen that I want to set up the battery information.

I'm sure there must be some way to do it otherwise why would the options be available?

Hi There,

You need a NMEA 2000 battery monitor to enable the ST70 to get the data via a Seatalk NG to Devicenet adapter.

It's probably cheaper to just go for a NASA BM-1 Compact battery monitor at around £110. Looks neat and does the job, but is stand alone

Hope that helps.

John
