ST50 Depth Flashing \"0.00m\"

Our ST50 depth and mutli are both flashing 0.0 meters, the manual says that as this depth is less than 3.0 meters it isn't the sender.

Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Cheers

Alex

Re: ST50 Depth Flashing \"0.00m\"

is the set up thru hull or in hull. if in hull it means that you have air bubbles under the transducer, this will need getting rid of.

Re: ST50 Depth Flashing \"0.00m\"

Mine does the same every year at the beginning of the season. Seems to sort itself out once we get under way. I've always assumed it is due to rubbish under the transducer when the boat hasn't moved for a while.

For some reason I get the same at the start of the season.
It sorts its self out after a while and is than ok for the rest of the year.

Have you antifouled over the transducer?

(If so, it'll probably sort itself out after a few days in the water).

No boat was copper coated 3 years ago, it just gets a clean once a season at sealift in cowes!

Although once my cooling problems are sorted out I shall be over there for a clean and to change a siezed stopcock. (It never seems to stop)!

Re: ST50 Depth Flashing \"0.00m\"

I have experianced this several times. Each time it was growth on the transducer. A quick scrub with a broom on a long shaft or a dive and swim (depending on water temp) seemed to fix things each time.

Also found that a good long hard sail fixed the problem when the broom was broken and water temp was 3 degs C!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well we were out for 5 hours yesterday, I made a point of heading towards any large wash from large power boats and ferries and its still flashing 0.00.

According to the manual as this is not flashing a depth over 3m the transducer is ok. It will illuminate when other seatalk connected instuments are illuminates so the seatalk is ok.

I think I will have to get the dingy out with the brush and double check the transducer connection to the back of the unit.

Re: ST50 Depth Flashing \"0.00m\"

All sorted, the transducer cable had seperated.

Probably happened when I installed the stereo and deck speakers. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
