Apart from power what other functions can be gained by the Seatalk interface on the Raymarine ST40 BiData instrument. Can it repeat anything or can it only relay on to some other seatalk device.

Regards,

Anything that is introduced from an outside source will go around the Seatalk circuit in both Seatalk and nmea but obviously it won't output unless the device is enabled to display the info. So your ST40 Bidata will repeat only it's own stand alone data types, not, say, compass headings although these might be present from a Raymarine (or other) fluxgate device like an autopilot. However if you had an ST40 "Compass" daisy-chained on to it then your heading would be displayed on that.

I hope that I have answered the question you were asking.
