St Katherines in 1969

I found it interesting but I am old enough to remember and one of the first to visit it when completed.

I did my first trip to sea from St Kats in 1962 - m.v.Philomel of General Steam Navigation Co. - I were a young sprog then !
The place has rather changed since those days.
We berthed in the same basin on our last trip there - didn't smell nearly the same.

Your first vessel must have been quite small as I recall mainly barges in there. I know what you mean about the smell though it wasn't so much nasty as peculiar at least that's what I remember.

Thats really interesting, I see it didn't quite go to plan and the Theatre and Cinema didn't get built, the proposed hotel looks different as well.
