By the by a fisherman had to complete the firefighting at sea cert although he is a retained fireman.
Interesting that Andy Hibbs stated the price was 2.5 million Euro's fully kitted out.
I am sure I read on another thread that a certain French one was MUCH cheaper than that............................
Asked how the independent crew thought they could set up for about £2 million, considering the George Sullivan cost a reported £2.7 million, Mr Hibbs said: ‘That was totally overpriced.
‘We can get state-of-the-art boats off the shelf to spec for 2 million euros. Fully equipped, I think we are looking at 2.5 million euros.’

After all the bickering is over, no matter who is right, one place which definitely needs a good lifeboat is Jersey !
I hope they have SAR helicopter cover of some kind too, after the madness of closing HMS Osprey at Portland ?

A friend of mine is a retained firefighter. None of her training dealt with fires on boats.
Local firefighters regularly train with maritime organisations, RNLI, for shipboard work. The fisherman firefighting cert contains nothing that the average firefighter would not know.
