Hi all,

About a year ago I bought a half share in a boat with a friend. I have just got round to re-registering the change of ownership. The previous owner had allowed the registration to lapse. However, when we bought the boat my friend and I each had a bill of sale for 32/64ths of the vessel.

Now the mca are refusing to register the boat as they say we need to have just one Bill of Sale (bonkers or what?), trouble is that I doubt that we can now alter the documentation, in any case I don't think that we would want to as it would probably mean that only one of us could have an original document.

Anyone else had this problem? if so how was it resolved?

Seems you guys mixed up Part 1 with Part 3 ...

When I registered Part 3 (before I had to change to Latvian) .. the application had space for multiple owners details - but did not ask or require % or 64ths ...
All it asked for : was previous Cert .... or a Bill of sale showing title to the boat.

In essence - Part 3 does not care about shares in a boat - that's your concern - not theirs.

If you can still contact seller ... just get him to sign a Bill of Sale with both of your names on ... and you both sign the one document.

Just create a bill of sale with both your names on it.
