Please see below I believe the chain jumped over the gypsie, 30kgs is a heavy old lot to be loose, could have been catastrophic if it came though the windscreen.Did you find out what let go, was it the clutch or something else?
The anchor chain was lashed at the point it connected to the boat, did its job in breaking, just as well we would have still been out there ! Putting the black ball up would have been a bit of a pig![]()

I have replacer her with the same, 30kg Bruce, 30mtr 3/8 chain spliced to 30 mtrs of warp.
I had it delivered to the boat by 1800hrs. Many thanks to Mike @Maritime Support limited superb service & very fair price, highly reccomnded.
