Splicing anchorplait to chain

as a complete novice i foud it quite easy to splice three strand rope onto the anchor chain, but being a pessimistic sod i also whipped the end part of the splice with a needle putting several stitches through the strands as a safety measure. Probably not needed but made me feels better. Don't worry, if i can do it so can you.

Finishing a splice with a sailmaker whipping has never been wrong :)
Could't find a picture a three strand splice with a whipping - but the whipping is the same.

I can't see how you could do a sailmakers whipping over a splice - thats probably why you cun't find a picture of it.

Sorry - English is not my native tongue..
Thank you for sharing your expertise.

It's called "sydd takling" in Norwegian, translates directly to "sewn whipping", the correct term in English seems to be "Palm and needle whipping".

I have been mislead - since I have seen at least two different ways of doing a sailmakers whipping (one that includes use of needle).

I have been doing this for more than forty years - after learning from my father.
