I used to be a fan of their sailing gear, they made good value comfortable fleece lined waterproof jackets that lasted for decades, and their full oilies were good too. They amalgamated with somebody and moved into 'leisurewear' and ski stuff which some chandlers stocked, I bought a short jacket about six years ago in Ardfern but have not seen them since. The jacket was o.k. but only showerproof, more style than performance. I suspect that if you are looking for the old quality and durabilty in Splashdown sailing gear you will not find it anymore. I think that they were overtaken by the marketing of breathable stuff by Musto etc. they disappeared around the same year that Musto and Henri Lloyd doubled their prices.
No longer in existence .. SWMBO was mortified as they did some very nice colours etc .. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif .. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
They used to have a warehouse in Wooten Basset Wilts, next door to where I used to work, they had a few electrical problems when they first moved in so I arranged a temporary supply for them so they did me a great deal on some new kit which I still use. My favorite is a 400 Polartec jumper that is fantastic ans so warm.
Thre's a lot of Splashdown gear.trousers shirts and tops at the clothing store in Cowes just past the Anchor pub; I can't recall the name though, all at reduced prices in several colours. No connection- I like the gear too!

The recent gear was good looking, but durability and quality poor.
EG, a useful thick cotton overhead smock's neck zip has just failed, after onlya winter's wear. I hardly zipped it up too.
I got it for a £5 in local chandlery tag end bin, so can't complain /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks for the replies, I had some gear from years back and were in great colours and not over priced. Shame they are no longer around but i will endevour to pick up the odd item here and there.
Thanks again,
