VHF Batteries 9.6 volts
I have an old VHF radio model BLACK HAWK but the battery pack wont take a charge. Manufacturer defunct. Tried Maplins, but the pack they for a racing car was correct votage ,but a different layout. I need 4 batteries side by side, with another layer of 4 batteries on top. I did try soldering the batteries to the correct configuration, only to realize that the Maplin batteries are slightly bigger, and with my lumpy soldering wouldnt fit the radio! Any ideas?

Try www.cellpacksolutions.com who made packs - I've never used them so don't know what they are like. I used a company called Allbatteries a few years ago for batteries for a EPIRB, which were extortionate from the manufacturer but I have'nt got their address. I'll try and get it for next week.

Look in a model airplane magazine. Electric power is now quite common. Several suppliers will make up battery packs or supply individual cells in a variety of physical sizes.
