This thread has me thinking seriously about putting a window in my dinghy's floor next year.
Floating along on the surface off a Dorset beach in August, I could have stared through my mask at the rocky seabed six feet below, for hours. Channel water clarity seems to vary - often hopelessly muddy, but incredibly beautiful at best.
Definitely want lights, too, for nocturnal effect. And a 'secret' trap-door above the glass, so I can switch on, and mademoiselle will squeak with alarm as I appear to be scuttling the boat...then she'll dissolve with inexpressible delight at the nocturnal sub-aqua beauty.
I'll only need:
a) some toughened glass;
b) a boat;
c) a girlfriend.
