It is not good news I am afraid but maybe with the recession things will improve

I think in the Med you are looking at an overnight fee of not less than 40-60 euros a night - the upper end being the Balearic islands...

For my 13m boat in all those marinas between Gibraltar and say Barcelona it is around 7-8,000 per annum...

Most of the anchorages in the Balearic's have had buoys laid in them so anchoring is not easy and probably not permitted..

Long gone it appears are the days when I used to pay around £10 a night

I surfed around the various marinas using Spanish Google - Puerto deportative de ..... and the prices are there - makes the Solent look cheap!

Less than 3000 Euros per year for 13-15m in Port Leucate, Languedoc Roussillon, France.
1852 euros per year for 9.51-10.00m.

Quite a nice friendly place, we are moored on a finger right in the middle of the town - less than 50m to 4 different restaurants.

One problem, is that this place has the highest incidence of gale force winds in the Med. However, when it blows, 99 times out of a 100 it is from the NW, which means the sea is pretty flat.

There is probably space there, however there is very little space available anywhere else in Mediterranean France at any price.

Here is the price list:-
http://www.leucate-port.fr/index.php/fr/presentation-port-de-leucate/tarifs-de-reservation

You will find several pictures of us on that web site.

We are happy there, except it is 1h20 mins away from where we live, and there are 4 ports within 20 minutes of us - all full up.

Most marinas like to boast of their 3-5 year waiting lists, so a normal approach is probably doomed to failure.

I paid long term contract rates for overwintering @ Argeles-Port in 2005, then €1285 p a for 10m.

I'd suggest Roussilon as your most likely, Argeles, S Cyprien, Leucate, Sete. An approach by phone or e-mail is unlikely to be successful, turning up and being eloquent is usually successful. When I was that way in 2008, looking up old acquaintances, berth prices had only moved up by about 20%, so I'd hazard about €2200-2500 for your boat.

Costa Del Sol marinas are now half empty. Prices and tax worries, I guess.

La Duquesa, yesterday, 28.18 euros, including electric but no water. Discounts for longer stays....37 foot boat.

Hope this helps!

Hi all

Hi,

If looking for a cheap berth to base her on look at the new marina next to Gibraltar in La Linea. A 10m berth, with this years reductions, is only €2780 per year. Also offering daily berths at only €12 a night which is very cheap. As explained above the CDS is quiet this year with lots of berths available. Mind you most Marinas have not dropped prices you are just guaranteed a berth.

More details of La Linea (Alcaidesa) Marina below
http://www.puertodeportivoalcaidesa.es/en/index/quienesSomos.html

Also remember we have decent Marinas across in Morocco coast are such as Cueta (Spanish) and Smir (Morocan)

Cheers

Paul

Cartagena and Tarragona are around €4100 per year for a 13m yacht. Sweeping statements saying marina berths for a 13m yacht between Gib and Barcelona cost on average €6000 plus a year are simply not true. Even dear old Almerimar wont cost that sort of money!

Spain and France Marinas

Hi Bill, We are currently cruising along the Spanish coast (now in Torreveija) towards Gibaralter after coming from the UK through French Canals to South France Med. last year. Gulf of Lyon experiences high winds (tremontane) but Aigues Mortes seems a popular marina and they had just completed some new pontoons when we were there. Spanish marinas vary hugely in price,we have a 11m yacht which falls into the 10-12m berth size (sometimes prices are by berth sizes not boat sizes). We have been quoted anything between Euros 12-60 for one night. Prices quoted do not always include local taxes, taxes(IVA), water, elec, etc. so make sure it is an inclusive price the marinas are quoting you. Some marinas use a complicated formula based on length x beam of boat. One of the best value for money marinas we have come across so far is Valencia, America's Cup Marina (also known as Le Marina Real Juan Carlos 1). They charge the same rate all year (except when there are big events on, such as the America's Cup and the Formula One Grand Prix). The price per day for a 10m boat is Euros 10 + taxes. They also give discounts of 30% for stays of over 3 months. This is the website www.marinarealjuancarlosi.com We found the staff very friendly and helpful, speak english, and there is excellent free wifi. There is also a tram stop to Valencia airport close to the marina. It's not the most convenient marina for supermarket shopping but there is a Lidl and Consum about 20 minutes walk. Anyway, hope that helps, if you need any more info, let me know. Good luck with your plans.

Beat this!

We have been cruising from Libon to SE Spain since Easter, can agree that prices vary considerably. Next to most expensive, so far, for 12.85m boat at Morayra, near Calpe. They wanted 75E a night as our beam is 4.1M, had it been 4M cost was 42E. Would have lied but, as everywhere, they photocopy your ships papers. Ours are accurate to the cm. Alicante was 60E, but very nice.

Last night we arrived after motoring 13 hours from Ibiza, (where we anchored or booked free buoys) at Valencia at the Americas Cup marina. Its Grand Prix weekend, we had no idea. Told we had to stay 3 nights, cost 575E plus 20% tax plus water and electricity!!!!!On pleading, were allowed to stay one night as long as we stayed on the pontoon and left first thing, for normal rate, a very cheap 24E incl. Marina half empty, lots of gin palaces, with clients drinking and shouting till 8am. Pleased to leave! Now in Burriana. 27E, only a few boats here in a huge marina extension. Lots of staff, looks good.

There are very few boats cruising here at the moment, only in Ibiza was it hectic. Marinas there full and not welcoming.

A bit confused as to where you are? Where is Burriana, as it is in our budget range. Have found out where it is, Nth of Valencia. Too far up for us as we are going east.

Thanks

Almerimar is now a large marina and has prices considerably less than others on the Spanish coast:

http://www.almerimarpuerto.com/

This week we paid €650 for the next four weeks in Almerimar for a 9m Catalac which is a lot more than several others but they are all full - the exception being José Banus where there is room at €90 per diem and no monthly rate.

Dear all,

just sailing in Balearic to Spain coast for our ARC 2010. The prices in marinas have been very different all over MED. From 130€ in Capris to 42€ in Manorca. Now we are in Porto Colom and planning next steps. Some info on marinas, prices in Spanish coast, from Denia to Marbella would be of great help. Today we had a short storm during the night and now is raining.

Hi, we are also in Porto Colom, just arrived (1300 hours). Sat on a mooring buoy after being told it was Euros 47 in the marina!!. Spain does seem a law unto itself when it comes to marina prices. We are in the '10-12m range' and here are the prices we have paid this summer.

Marina de Denia €33.15 (excluding water and elec)
Marina Villajoyosa €27.85.
Marina de la Dunas, Guardamar €22.16
Alicante €47.00
Thomas Maestre Marina (entrance to Mar Menor) 27.00 (July)
Cartagena (Real Club de Regatas) 24.80 (July)
Almeria 20.30 (July)
Almerimar 19.95 (July)
Fuengirola 23.10 (July)
Marbella, Bajadilla (uncomfortable berths in westerly) 27.87 (July)
Estapona 27.59 (July)
Gibraltar,Queensway Marina 18.15 + water and elec.(July)
Ceuta, north african coast 26.90 (August)
La Linea, 17.99 (new marina opened 2.8.10)
San Antonia, Ibiza 35.38 (Sept) Portsib.es
Ibiza Town, (Ibiza Magna Marina) 22.64 (Oct)
Port Andratx, Majorca 18.38 (Oct) Portsib.es

For Majorca and Ibiza go on the portsib.es website or call into the port office at Porto Colom and pick up their leaflet (Ports de les Illes Balears) which shows all their ports which are alot cheaper than the marinas. Also now it is low season (from 1 October) prices should be more reasonable than the summer ones quoted above.

Good luck with your planning and the ARC. If you need any more info, pop over, our boat is Solent Clipper on a mooring buoy near the entrance to Port Colom.
