Advised yesterday by the Harbour master that Southwold has no berths available until 3rd September, which is a shame, as we'd looked forward to it on this cruise. It also wastes a pretty good passage plan!

Still, Lowestoft will now get our custom!

That's a shame, you'll miss the end of the pier show with Tim Hunkin's amazing machines (look him up on Youtube for his TV series) Still, there's always the polished copper bogs at the RNSYC ? .

It might be worth you asking Harbour Marine Services (01502 724721) whether you could lie on one of their pontoons. They're a working yard but always worth asking the question and a lot safer than being eaten alive by the locals at Lowestoft.

We're at the LCC in Lowestoft - the locals are friendly!

I liked it more before the facilties moved 'upmarket' :ROFLMAO:.

I was berthed on the Walberswick side on a staging for a couple of years early 2000s before moving to the Orwell.

The town of Southwold itself has changed for the worse IMO over the last decade and I rarely visit by car nowadays. Same with Aldeburgh.
