I've just bought a 2006 Monterey 250cr and need to locate a couple of parts.

Google brings up Southwater Marine, Hamble but the telephone number on their website is no longer active? Are they still trading or have they gone out of business.

Other than that, any ideas of the easiest way to source some parts? I'm after a piece of fibreglass trim on the port side to the rear of the boat and a hinge for the anchor locker (which is recessed and difficult to find a generic replacement).

Just small bits but the boat is in amazing condition and these just let it down a little. If I don't fix them now while the boat is new (to me) I'm afraid I'll just leave them which would be a shame!

Any ideas, even if they have a European dealer that can get parts over to the UK

Thanks!

Southwater Marine is no longer trading but I'd PM Mercuryman of this parish. He is an ex employee of Southwater and might beable to point you in the right direction.

Southwater are sadly a victim of the current climate.

PM on it's way with possibly a useful contact.

Damn lakesailored, same contact though

Yes, southwater = recently declared bankrupt unfortunately

If you post a pic of the hinge someone on here might be able to point you to a supplier. It very likely is generic

GRP parts would be hard to get even if there were a UK dealer. Manufacturers don't like having to find an old mould and polish it just to make one part, and they often destroy old moulds. The prices will be set at a level to put you off ordering. Indeed, there will be no parts price list as such - it's the total opposite of the auto parts business. GRP is such an easy material to repair you're likely better giving it to a GRP shop for repair or re-make. Basically the whole marine GRP repairs market operates this way rather than relying on manufacturers to provide spares

Good luck anyway

If you get no luck with UK sources, send an email to Monte in the USA. I had the same boat and got a couple of accessories from dealers over there - not much diff in cost, just takes a bit longer to arrive.

Thanks for your replies. I'll get a snap up of the hinge and see if anyone can recommend a suitable replacement. It's just the pin that connects the two parts together so I wonder if I can come up with some sort of fix.

I did think the trim would be difficult. It's about (from memory) a metre long so I guess really expensive to replace! It's this trim here:

The big red circle shows the trim, the little one where it is broken. All of the bits are still there, screwed into the hull so this might be the best way to go about it.

Anyone any suggestions about somewhere in Poole that could fix this. Boat is moored at Parkstone Bay but Lewis from Saltwater Solutions seemed to want to replace rather than repair so maybe he doesn't do GRP repairs.

I wonder if you can order the blonde from Monterey?

Try Gibbs Marine in Poole as they are dealers for Monterey these days

Steve Chambers or Stuart should be able to help, they also have a stand at the boat show

Monterey 250 CR

I've also just bought a Monterey 250 CR approx 5 weeks ago and I'm really pleased with it. I got the broker I bought it from to sort out the bits and pieces that needed doing and he bought the parts in the US.
My boat is currently on the Thames but I will be mooring it in Poole in the summer.
There is a small crack at the same spot you point out so it is clearly a weak point on these boats. i would recommend a GRP company to do the repair as this will be a fraction of the cost of the part from Monterey in the US.

Thanks for the reply. I've spoken to the dealer in Northern Ireland and they seem to be able to get the parts, although if all else fails I'll try the US. I think a simple GRP repair is the best bet here having looked at it properly now as it's easily removed from the boat and all the bits are there.

Where abouts in Poole will you mooring the boat? I'm in Parkstone Bay Marina. There are two Montereys (the other is badged a 275cr but the same as a 250) in the Marina now, one having just arrived from Chichester.
