Thinking of visiting Southsea having read about their £1m refit. Anyone got any experiences? i.e facilities, chandlery, food, bar etc.

Yea, i have a berth there - 1m?
They have been ripped of! I can't see how 1m has been spent, ok lot's of new teak, new rest rooms, new diesel pontoon, but i can't see it being 1 million.
Indian's good, but it stink's the marina out and should never of had the go ahead. chandlery shop is well, weak.

I'm sure the £1m will be the figure used when Premier come to announce the 2006 charges. and justify the increase by the major improvements undertaken........blah blah blah. I've only been there once and I thought the people there were very helpful, but it's not in very nice surroundings....a long way to a decent pub if i recall.

being born and bread in southsea I was amused to see eastney (or was it langstone) yacht club has changed its name to that prostigious niverna of southsea, the 4 + miles of blue rated beaches overlooking the solent, where the sun always shines and a force 5 is commonplace - ah ....... heaven -
so please dont get confused with eastney (and langstone harbour mud flats) being southsea.

Helpful, friendly staff. New waiting and fuel pontoon. Pontoons being replanked, ample water and lekky. Very posh Indian Restaurant (bit pricy though, and they don't do breakfast). Chandlery is not much use for odds and sods, but there is a much better one in Southsea. Showers etc being refurbished. Position and access is great; HW±3 hours gives a full ebb tide down the Solent. Local area is not too salubrious, but doesn't seem to cause problems. Any more than that and too many people might take an interest!
