finally found a zingaro, decent price, decent equipment - downside 300 miles away on the thames

cheap flights on easy jet (much less hassle than driving from Sunderland - so we thought) so away we went, never having flown on what appears to be a former cattle transporter (and apparently they still treat us fare paying humans like cattle - and they dont even issue seat numbers - just a mad dash for a seat)

Landed a stansted 11.00 sat, and took 3 YES 3 hours to get to heatrow via train/tube, no hire cars, bloody hot carriages, to find a taxi form heathrow to egham (11 miles if that) £46 - WHAT and taxi drivers claim to be poor, so we didnt take th taxi - obviously

Eventually called the brother in law who arrived at heathrow at 16.00 just made the boat yard beore it shut - Nightmare of a day

Moral of the Story - Dont Venture Into A Southern Mans World

(bought the Zingaro though, so not a complete waste of a journey)

Hi Stu,
Glad it all worked out in the end.
Part of the reason for my annual trip to the London Boat Show is to remind me that ,however crap a day I am having during the rest of the year , I am fortunate not to live in or commute to London.
Regards mikej

Once carted a whole radar set from the boat show, around the underground and back to Euston station. I've avoided the silly place ever since.

They all seem to be very poor down there, living in Tenament buildings, or houses with no garage, gardens, or fields. Dont think they can afford a donkey.

a zingaro is actually a fletcher zingaro 288 - 28ft cuddy cabin sports boat, very fast, good handling, all around good boat, but a bit of hassle to find a decent one (like most things really)

and one of the beat hulls ever - one joined an early round britian rib raid and it had to hang around for the ribs!
Hull also used in a lot of military patrol boats etc
Mind you that was than (a lot of years ago) - other have learnt since but it's still good.

All you had to do is ask! i took my daughter to university yesterday in ........Egham could have picked you up , and dropped you back(from Airport that is ) !!!! it was nice to see "Hurry Up" city again, if only to remind myself why i moved to a more tranquil part of the world,
good luck with the boat
