OK! OK! the lane down to the slipway has now been cleared and all trees/bushes cut right back. Of course it's still terribly pot holed but you are going to have to nag Oxfordshire CC about that.
Special equipment was used mounted on a Tractor sort of like a mower but sideways. Any limbs that were too tough for that were cut with a mini chain saw on a stick. My Groundsman took care of it with some help. It now looks like the M1 with potholes it's so wide.
Ah, yes a Chain Flail, marvellous piece of equipment, flattens everything in sight, and even mows grass verges to an acceptable level.
Makes an awful mess of hedges for a time - and people complain about modern farming vandalism - but the hedge come back more vigorously and when the season starts can look great.
Not, you understand as a properly executed cut and laid hedge but with 5-10% of the cost and effort.
I wish I had a tractor powerfully or big enough to drive one.
Chain flail - /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif - when used on thorny hedges are a bast**d for causing cyclists to get flat tyres. Some yokels may think this is a + point of course.

Ooops! and here's me thinking everyone will be chuffed. The lane is used heavily by Mountain Bikers going on across country runs. In fact man for man I would say more Bikers use it per annum than boaters.
What is it? You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.
