Looking to make a list of free hard standings on the south coast for a yatch with legs. I'm in chichester so Dell quay. Itchenor. Pilsey. There must be loads for a quick scrub between here and isles of scilly with a bit of local knowledge

How about some lat & longs to really add some value - often there are good bits and not so good bits that are steep / muddy etc.

That would be useful… the only place I know in Falmouth (Gasworks - by the old Bosun’s Locker) is now full of boats tied up permanently it seems.

Don’t forget to look on the southern island -must be plenty down the medina river for example .

What about the wall just behind Tragos, that's often empty and you can get a pint in the Chain Locker whilst waiting for the tide to go out

I often see boats alongside the quay at Mylor on the concrete slip on the eastern side of the old quay. I had a feeling that this is a public slip. Not sure but worth asking Mylor.
So few places that you can launch, scrub or keep a boat these days without having to pay often quite high prices. We have a lot of foreshore on Mylor Creek and one 300m stretch is close to the village and good for outhauls or boats that dry out. We don't charge any fees as we see it as one of the few places that locals on modest wages can keep their boats.

Good idea - but I'd leave Pilsey out. I beached my old Hillyard 8 tonner there some years ago and one of the legs broke through the sand layer into mud underneath and she fell over - quite gently, as the tide fell, but it scuppered the plan to scrub off and we also had a long wait sitting on the beach!

See. I'm glad to have put that up. My dad used to go to pilsey for a scrub....or did he. Maybe he just told us that and got lucky. I seem to remember a bit of a rush to get the legs out ???

East Head instead of Pilsey??? Sand hard enough to hold the legs?

Depending upon draft could add Studland, though not for anchoring ....
In Poole harbour there is Blood Alley Lake to the south of Brownsea Island. Doesnt normally totally dry but on springs might be down to a foot of water or less with a reasonably firm bottom.

Deep into Langstone Hbr ... if go to Havant end - eastern corner .... theres a huge public slipway .....
The waters there off to left of channel as you approach the slip are hard shingle .... range of tide is generous.
A look from shore before going with boat is worth a trip ...

Somewhere in my books I have a paperback that lists all launch / hard sites around central south ...

There are a pair of scrubbing piles on Eastney spit in Langstone Harbour...The ground beneath is shingle, too and the tide fall/rise is around 4m

In fact, on the other side of the spit (facing Southsea Marina) there is a gentle slope of shingle that you may be able to use...depending on the draught of your vessel.
