Interested in what others have seen in terms of berthing increases this year? we are based on the south coat with a 3 letter marina and the renewal has gone up 6%. While inflation is having a factor on costs, as we all have seen most marinas are now full giving 100% berth utilisation compared to say 80% few years back (that increase alone should plug the real cost increases). I wonder if we are moving back to the times of “think of a number” cause if you won’t pay I’ll go to the next one on my waiting list.

Not with the same firm, but two years ago mooring price with a certain trust racked up 8% when cpi was something like 2% which is what I put my own firm’s prices up by to clients, peed me off so I walked out of principle. I imagine those better off than me it didn’t bother them.

Not a mooring increase but the marina we were at had ev charging operated by a token that gave an hour of electricity at 7kw, the tokens were free but they put the price up to £6

We now have a smart jetty bar to drown our sorrows when reading our annual bill but the pretzels and peanuts prices have caused a few raised eyebrows from fellow bertholders. We could find cheaper and more pricy but like the convenience of Gosport.

I hear the catering has gone down at some marina or disappeared in Gosport but Clarence might still have some eateries left even with the increases? The boathouse cafe seems to have lost its way since I heard Emsworth types had arrived but maybe others know more ?

Yes. Decent coffee shop at the pump house in the car park. Artys bistro and another place in the old bakery which keeps changing hands and I haven't tried. Lots of people drinking of an evening at outside tables. All very pleasant.

We had our Haslar pontoon Christmas bash at the victualler at Clarence and all seemed to enjoy meal which for a pub venue was well presented etc. haven’t been back so far but I think if visiting Haslar or Gosport marina it might be worth the walk along weevil lane for evening meal etc.
