Ah, but that's the South African version. It has to be the opposite way up in the northern hemisphere.

This is what we had. The only fixing holes are in the point so that's what will be at the top.

Hang it from three equal length lines tied together at one end and attached to the new holes in the picture. You can do the same on the opposite (bottom) side and run it up to a spreader.

Not quite. If you just turn it upside down it'll then be left handed.
It will also have to be dismantled and reassembled so that is right handed again.

This is because if you view the earth from the north pole it is rotating anticlockwise but viewed from the south pole it's going clockwise.

Exactly the same reason for the difference between sundials for the southern hemisphere and those for the northern hemisphere.

Interesting to speculate that if clocks had been invented in the southern hemisphere the hands would run in what we now call an anticlockwise direction.

That same point was made in the Qinteq test mentioned above. So they tested it in both orientations. As would be expected there were worse nulls when mounted with the plates vertical
