Some yactmasters questions answered......

How about you?

While the thought of posting it was good and timely given recent threads…tbh it’s a very long article with the actual exam glossed over in a paragraph. Would a thread where people post their own recent experience of the prep and exam be useful to others? ( mine was 17 years ago so possibly less relevant). And would be interesting to hear from those who failed: You only ever hear the people who passed writing about it.

It's amazing how the word 'Yachtmaster' brings out the worst in people....
I'm lucky, I really enjoyed all my RYA courses and haven't a great critiicisms of it either.
Also being blessed in doing Day Skiipper on the gafff cutter Eve of St Maws,, a wooden pilot cuttter, and ssubsequently YM Practiccal on a gaff yawl from Plymouth. (It's embarrassing being unable to remember the boat's name, but it was a week which left me ready to knock someononne's teeth out with a galvanised bucket.
The YM Practical givess you a sense of achievement unavailablle elsewheere.
The whole process, in my case waas started by Classic Sailling gof Corrnwall, eventuaally resulting in me becoming the owner of a beautiffull ,and unusually fast ,gaff cuttter of my own!
