Some boat reviews

jfm, I agree with you on cabins. You can't have too many cabins on a Med boat because any guests you invite will inevitably be sleeping over. Also I think those guests cabins should all have single berths 'coz your mates are'nt going to fancy sharing a double berth. Also agree with you on ex VAT boats being more attractive for resale but always providing the price reflects the ex VAt status which often they don't. Agree with you also on flybridges which as you say are the focal point of Med boats but I don't like the arrangement with the seating area aft because it means the sunbathing area is next to the helm and therefore is partially shaded by the bimini which is a bit irritating if you're trying to catch some rays. I much prefer the typical Princess layout with the seating area adjacent to the helm and the sunbed aft
Regarding Sq58 values, Fairline are bringing out a new Sq55 with midships master cabin soon which IMHO will attract new and used buyers away from the Sq58

Yes we have mid cabin fitted as cabin not utility. It's a no-cost option. Very few have this, surprises me. It's a great little cabin, full headroom, washbasin and furnishings to same standard as rest of boat, aircon, loo (standard loo is a poxy seawater job, but we ripped that out and put a freshwater Tecma in, easy to do). The washing machine still goes in there, but you have to sacrifice the extra fridge. With this cabin it becomes a genuine 4-cabin boat, with the twin bed crew cabin aft available as a 5th cabin as last resort.

Much of the fun of med boating is loafing about with friends/guests etc, and the outside of the boat accommodates 8 pax easily, so seems a bit daft not to have places for them all to sleep. Hence you need a 4 cabin boat imho...
