Solent on a bank holiday – are we mad?

Bank Holiday and summer weekend sailing in the Solent, I either leave the Solent or day sail form my home berth cannot be bothered with the agro of finding a berth in advance...

does anyone anchor in a westerly in Sandown bay, should in theory be sheltered? or does the channel swell get in?

Dunnit. Swell does get in but nothing unspeakable. Best bet is right at the South end of the bay - which is no longer called Sandown, but something else. Errr, Luccombe?
