I might need to buy a solar panel or two. I estimate anywhere from 20 - 60 watts. Might also need an additional flexible one.
Any suggestions on sources, and an idea of cost?
How long should a normal hard panel last?

I found Midsummer Energy to be cheaper than many suppliers.

I used Spectra semi flexible panels which gave cracking service for two years, but have now failed. Having spoken to the supplier, one failed because the panel (which is designed to curve slightly if mounted flat on the deck) was curved down the wrong axis. The other was mounted correctly, but failed in just the same way (the black panel hiding the diode peeled off and allowed salt to get at the conducting bits inside the panel.

They would have been excellent otherwise - if you do get some then reinforce/replace the glue that holds that panel on. It seems to be little more than window sealant.

They were by far the best watt per £ when I was looking around two years ago.

I have also seen aireandsun recommended as a supplier for other solar panels (recently, on this forum, I think)

Hope this is useful.

Regards.

I to had a spectra solar panel failed after 9 months wouldnt change it until I threatened legal action.Got refund eventually.Went and bought another same make because I thought it was a one off failure and this one is still working but has water ingress.

I bought mine from jgtech.com, competitive, fast and I have always received good service on numerous items I have purchased through them.

*usual disclaimers..

Know of BP panel with 12yrs and circumnavigations under its belt. Don't pay more than 60p/watt at the outside for a hard panel- they'll be ripping you off. Kyocera panels are very nicely made.
